Lee’s brand-building experience includes a number of years as General Counsel and Vice President of Seattle Coffee Company, the parent company of Seattle’s Best Coffee and Torrefazione Italia. He assisted with the development of retail stores and coffee houses located in key demographic markets and with international product distribution and licensing. He negotiated and documented real estate transactions; franchise compliance documents, territory development and single unit franchise agreements; product development and licensing agreements; and other corporate transactions. Lee managed the company's intellectual property portfolio and coordinated international trademark protection and dispute resolution measures. He negotiated and documented mergers and acquisitions and handled other high level business and legal transactions for the company as well. Prior to practicing law, Lee was Vice President of a successful and highly regarded regional real estate company. During that time he managed and leased a portfolio of first-class shopping centers exceeding one million square feet for institutional investors including Aetna Realty Investors and Prudential Real Estate Investors. In addition to his leasing and property management experience, Lee has been involved in real estate site selection for a number of successful regional and national tenants and the development and redevelopment of shopping centers and retail properties. He has provided direction locally, regionally and nationally on business and legal issues for start-up and expanding businesses, and has assisted many individuals and companies realize their marketing, development, growth and sales targets. Lee Brettin is a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Business and the University of Puget Sound School of Law. Lee is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the King County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Northwest Multiple Listing Service, the Independent Broker’s Association and the Institute of Real Estate Management. Lee is also a journeyman carpenter and former member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, Huntington Beach, California. Lee contributes volunteer time to Washington Attorney's Assisting Community Organizations, which advises a variety of non-profit and charitable organizations. He consults and assists small and emerging minority owned businesses through the King County Bar Association-University of Washington Business Advisory Panel. He is a member of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce and the Northgate Chamber of Commerce.
